Always Buying Scrap wishes all its customers a happy Thanksgiving.  We will be closed on the 24th and 25th for Thanksgiving, but open on Saturday the 26th with our normal business hours.

About Us

Always Buying Scrap is Durham, North Carolina’s premiere and oldest scrapyard and scrap metal recycling facility. As a family-owned business, we serve contractors, towing companies, sanitation companies, industrial and commercial accounts, environmental contractors, auto wreckers, demolition contractors, homeowners and anyone with scrap metal to sell. We also provide a convenient roll-off container service.

We are conveniently located in Durham, NC, just minutes from I-85 and I-40.

What do we buy - and not buy?

We have an extensive list of items that we will buy, as well as another of items that we won't, or won't unless you can prove ownership. READ MORE

Can you come to me?

We travel to homes to load and collect junk cars as well as to industrial sites to collect scrap metal.

Can you help me unload?

We can help you with the unloading of whatever scrap you bring. We have equipment for unloading heavy items.

What prices do you pay

We determine our prices on the current market price for the material or item.

What do we buy?

We list many of the items that we buy, and also the items that we will not buy.

Can you buy my wreck?

We buy all types of junk cars, trucks and commercial vehicles and construction and agricultural equipment.

What paperwork is there?

Depending on the item, NC law may require proof that you're the owner.  When in doubt, contact us.


Closed 24 and 25 November. We will be open on Saturday 26 with normal business hours.

Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm
Last customer will be let in the gate 15 minutes prior to closing (4:15pm).

Saturday 8:00am to 12:00 noon
Last customer will be let in the gate half hour prior to closing (11:30am).
